Photo Hunt 54: Steps

This is the stairway leading to the top of The Arc de Triomphe, a famous monument in Paris, France. The Arc de Triomphe is about 165 ft high and 45 meters wide. To reach the top, we had to climb 284 steps. As you can see, it was spiral and narrow so it's not an easy climb. But the view above is spectacular so it's worth all the effort.

That is a wonderful picture. I didn't get to climb the stairs when we visited. Someone had to stay down with the baby!
Beautiful work.

I've been to the Arc but have never gone inside, so had no idea there were such beautiful steps in it! I'll have to check it out the next time I go there.

Wow that makes me dizzy just to look at. I am glad I don't have to climb all those steps..

That spiral staircase reminds me a bit of the spiral staircase inside the Statute of Liberty, which was designed by a Frenchman. Makes me wonder know if the architects were related but it's too late at night for me to remember my history very well!

Great photo, spiral staircases have been on my blog this week since I read and reviewed the book, the Spiral Staircase by Karen Armstrong.

Wow, you got a great shot there. I love the Arc de Triomphe, it's so much more spectaular in real life. I remember the first time I saw it the sky was cloudless, and it tookmy breath away. I walked all the way round the Etoile to see it from every angle!

Welcom to Photo Hunt :)

What an amazing a beautiful spiral staircase? I must not lean over the banister too long, however, or I will get dizzy..... look how far down you can see.... dizzy, dizzy!

Terrific shot! :) We were in Paris last October, but only saw the Arc de Triomphe from our bus while we were taking a tour. I was running a 20K race, so didn't want to do too much walking! Beautiful photo for the theme. :)

Mine's up too :)

You took a great symmetry photo. The contrast of the white of the stairs and the brown of the railing, with the lacy steps creates a great effect. I thought this was a lighthouse staircase at first!

I climbed the Arc a few years ago and just loved that view of the stairs. Great photo!
