What Kept Me Busy Over the Last Weeks?

I've been busy over the past few weeks and I just couldn't cope with the things I need to do. On top of my work and regular tasks/chores, I had to do some errands here and there, some of which had to be completed before the long holiday during Qatar National Day and Eid Al-Adha celebration (December 18-25, 2007). Unfortunately, I had only two days of official holiday because the long holiday is for government and semi-government offices only :(
Despite my crazy schedule, Walter and I manage to escape for a short vacation in Oman (December 19-22, 2007), which was definitely a blast! A day before our departure, my youngest brother arrived to spend Christmas and New Year with us. Our Oman trip was already booked and confirmed when my brother informed me of his plans so we can't move our trip anymore.

Anyways, I did some catching-up with my brother when I came back. In the next two days (December 23-24), we toured my brother around Doha. We went to the Fish Market, Villagio Mall, Souq, Corniche and City Center. In between those trips, I made sure I bought groceries and other stuff I needed for Christmas, otherwise, we'll have empty kitchen during Christmas. In the afternoon of December 24th, my husband arranged a Desert Safari Tour from from Qatar International Adventures. After the tour, we headed to Toys R Us to buy gifts for our godchildren and our friends' sons and daughters. By the time we finished shopping, everyone was already hungry so we decided to have dinner at Thai Snacks and Restaurant in Al-Mirqab St. before heading to the City Center. We went home after closing City Center and waited for midnight.

Obviously, I wasn't able to prepare anything for "noche buena" and had limited time to cook any special dish during Christmas day. I also wasn't able to send any greetings nor I was able to respond to the messages I received. I also missed some calls from my friends.

We went back to work after Christmas but we hit the road again during the weekend. On Friday, we watched basketball and the circus at Qatar Sports Club and we had dinner at Shanghai Chinese Restaurant in City Center although the circus and dinner were disappointments and waste of money. Then on Saturday, my brother did some shopping again. Sunday is back to work but I took leave of absence today and on the Jan 2nd (Jan 1st is official holiday) so that gives me 2 days of free time to spend with my brother before he leaves on Jan 1st and a free time for my self on Jan 2nd.

It was such a hectic schedule for us but it was an enjoyable time spent with my brother. We definitely had a grand time together!

I'm Still Here ! ! !

My schedule over the last three weeks had been insanely hectic. There are a lot of things I wanted to blog about but I'm preoccupied with various things including a short holiday in Oman, work, personal errands, Christmas celebration, etc. I wasn't even able to do my Christmas greetings on time although I sent cards to some of my friends who replied to my e-mail requesting for their mailing address.

I wanted to off-load all the thoughts trapped in my crazy mind before the 2007 ends so I can welcome 2008 with a fresh start. I'm not sure how far can I go but I'll try my best to update my blog and write as much as I could so stay tuned for my posts ! ! !

Missing Christmas in the Philippines!

I found the above video from Travel Philippines Blog. Watching this Ad campaign, I suddenly miss Christmas in the Philippines. I miss the colorful and beautiful decorations and Christmas lights. I miss Christmas parties and exchange gifts. I miss Christmas shopping and carefully choosing each gift for my friends and loved-ones. I miss personally wrapping my gifts (although when I shop at Rustan's, I take advantage of free gift-wrapping and boxes) and writing messages on the gift cards. Most of all, I miss spending Christmas with my family. It's been years since the last time my family celebrated Christmas together. I can't remember anymore when was that last time but I do plan to spend Christmas in the Philippines in 2010. Hopefully, everyone will be home in 2010 to celebrate Christmas together once again.

Remembering 2006 Doha Asian Games

I just wanna share some videos taken last year during the closing ceremony of 15th Asia Games in Doha, Qatar where our very own Lea Salonga sang the finale song. Sorry, it's a bit shaky but I hope you enjoy it even if it's old.

We’re Not Watching Rakrakan sa Dubai 2007 But We are going to Oman

We’re very excited about Rakrakan sa Dubai 2007 but we changed our plans. First, both of us do not have any leave credits left for this year. If we go, we can only stay in Dubai during the weekend of the concert and it will be a waste of trip to do that. I would prefer to have a proper holiday even if we're not paying for it. Second, we have been to Dubai twice last year. There are other nice places to see around Middle East besides Dubai.

After much thought, we decided to go to Oman during the Eid Al Adha, which is normally a 3-day holiday plus weekends. My husband's company will have an extended holiday from December 19 to December 25. I heard that Oman is really nice and even better than Dubai. Now, is really a good time to go. The weather at this time of the year is very pleasant for walking and sightseeing.

We still have a little problem though. We are supposed to use our raffle prize for this trip but according to the PR department of my husband’s company, the prize has already expired. I was surprised because we were not informed at all that that the prize has an expiration. In fact, when we won the raffle, they told us we can use it anytime until end of the year. I think these people are fooling us around. It's unfair and unjust to forfeit the prize without informing us. Anyway, we are in the process of sorting out this problem. I am hopeful that everything will be settled accordingly.
